I will be teaching two sections of Filmmaking I (FMPR 231) this coming academic year of 2017-2018. The syllabus is currently available online. If you are enrolled in my course, please be advised that we get to work on the first day. Come to the first class prepared to learn and participate.
My teaching philosophy revolves around ideas of quadrants that includes theory, writing, praxis and critique. Intersecting all four quadrants is the artist and her process. Encompassing the entire paradigm is a circle of liberating parameters.
My teaching methods encourage risk and personal attachment to the work. When it comes to all major projects, students must be able to express why the work is important to them and their reasons for undertaking the work.
